INTO THE HEARING WORLD WHERE: Connie Chung Tonight (CNN) WHEN: Wednesday, January 15, 2003, 8:00pm (EST). WHAT: Heather Whitestone touched our hearts when she was crowned Miss America 1995 and became the first disabled woman to receive this honor. Heather lost her hearing when she was 18 months old. Last year, she made one of the most important decisions of her life - to undergo cochlear implantation and receive a Cochlear Nucleus® 24 Contour™. We all marveled at her courage as she shared her emotional experience with us on national television following her activation. Heather decided to get a Cochlear Nucleus® implant because she wanted to hear her family's voices, make further strides in achieving her goals and experience the hearing world. With the implant, she plans to help raise awareness among the hearing-impaired community about the opportunities available for improving speech and language. On Wednesday, January 15, Heather will join Connie Chung on Connie Chung Tonight, where she will discuss the steps she has taken since her recent cochlear implantation and will undoubtedly amaze us once again with all that she has accomplished. A live satellite interview with Angie and Mark King on cochlear implant insurance reimbursement will also be presented, so tune in! |
