HATIS® Announces New Product for Hearing Impaired Boomers

In-the-Ear Hearing Aid Users Are Now Able to Buy and Use Cell Phones Without Annoying Interference

Walnut Creek, CA - January 25, 2002. HATIS Corporation (Hearing Aid Telephone Interconnect Systems) announced today the industry's first Assistive Communications Technology device for the millions of In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing aid users who previously were unable to effectively utilize cell or office phones.

Coined the "Producer" by CEO, William L. Morgan, the Producer - made in the United States - complements the Company's hands-free "Director" which targets Behind-the-Ear hearing aid users (all HATIS products require a standard "T-coil"- equipped hearing aid). The HATIS Producer features a discreet boom microphone for hands-free operation while the feather light earpiece features all of the technology that BTE users already appreciate. The Producer weighs nearly 77% less than a competing hands-free boom mike and is substantially smaller while providing crystal clear, interference-free clarity for ITE users. Another unique Producer feature is volume control. The Producer's easy-to-use volume control allows the customer to tailor the sound level to their degree of hearing loss without having to remove their hearing aid or to adjust its volume separately.

When asked about the significance of the HATIS Producer, audiologist and keynote speaker, Mark J. Sanford, MS., CCC-A said, "We tested the HATIS ITE prototype and it was terrific...HATIS is on the cutting edge of technology. They have a very good product line. They are doing the right thing (for the hearing impaired)." Alice M. Morgan, HATIS President and founder, is both humbled and appreciative of these comments. She knows what truly matters: the end user. "I was especially pleased when we asked a recent focus group if HATIS products had changed their lives. The positive response was overwhelming. I love getting up each morning and going to work. Helping people makes it all worthwhile."

"This breakthrough opens the door to the entire marketplace for HATIS. We now offer telephone solutions to hearing aid users, both BTE and ITE," said Mr. Morgan. "More importantly, the Producer allows us to help more people communicate with loved ones or colleagues at work via landline telephone as well as cell phones. The Producer was stylized with the Baby Boomer in mind. It's discreet, easy to tuck away anywhere and doesn't look out-of-place chatting on the phone at the local Starbucks or breezing down the freeway, hands-free in the 'Beemer'."

HATIS® is an Assistive Communications Technology (ACT), ISO
9001-certified, solution that enables telephone communication for the hard-of-hearing or profoundly deaf. HATIS was designed specifically for individuals wearing hearing aids equipped with telecoils (T-coil) in need of distortion-free audio clarity while using the telephone. HATIS provides the Missing Link™ between hearing aids for both landline and cellular telephones by transferring crystal clear audio signals into an individual's hearing aid(s) without the need for batteries. The ability to hear distinctly on a telephone is now possible for individuals with a hearing impairment.
