Nominations for the 2002 INPROSEC Awards are now being accepted.
Award categories are:
· Professional of the Year
· Rookie Professional of the Year
· Program of the Year
· Professional Development Grant
Criteria for the awards are as follows:
Professional of the Year
Requirements
1. Nominee must be a master professional with at least 8 years experience.
He or she must be a member of INPROSEC and
should have made an outstanding and significant contribution to the
profession.
2. Nominees should demonstrate several of these characteristics:
a. Certification in education of the hearing impaired or related field;
b. Development of a new instructional technique or program (nominee may
have initiated unusual improvements in some area of
responsibility); and
c. Leadership in the field through involvement in local, state/provincial,
or national groups involved with educating people who are deaf or hard of
hearing.
Procedures
One person should assume responsibility for nominating the professional,
assembling the various parts of the professional's dossier and submitting
the dossier to INPROSEC in a single package. Nominations and support
materials should include:
1. The name, address, and phone and fax numbers of the person responsible
for the nomination;
2. The nominee's resume; and
3. Ten letters of support from immediate supervisors, colleagues, people
who are deaf or hard of hearing who have been trained
by the nominee, and/or the students' parents.
Rookie Professional of the Year
Requirements
1. Nominee must be a master professional with 1 or 2 years experience who
upholds the goals and objectives of INPROSEC and
AG Bell.
2. Nominee must be a member of INPROSEC.
Procedures
One person should assume responsibility for nominating the rookie
professional, assembling the various parts of the professional's
dossier and submitting the dossier to INPROSEC in a single package.
Nominations and support materials should include:
1. The name, address, and phone and fax numbers of the individual or group
nominating the professional;
2. The nominee's resume; and
3. Five letters of support from immediate supervisors, colleagues,
students, and/or the students' parents.
Program of the Year
Requirements
The program must be an outstanding program for people who are deaf or hard
of hearing that promotes excellence in oral
education.
Procedures
One person should assume responsibility for nominating the program,
assembling the various parts of the dossier and submitting the dossier to
INPROSEC in a single package. Nominations and support materials should
include:
1. The name, address, and phone and fax numbers of the individual or group
responsible for the nomination;
2. A brief description of the program that may include history, mission,
range of staff services, and students; and
3. Ten letters of support from local, regional, and national
professionals; parents of current and former students; and/or program
graduates.
Professional Development Grant
Award - One $1,000 (U.S.) grant
Purpose
The grant may be used for a project or for continuing education (including
training programs or academic courses). The activity
should have potential for immediately affecting the recipient's work.
Eligibility
Recipient must be an INPROSEC member who works in an auditory/oral or
Auditory-Verbal setting.
Criteria
Need for the project, appropriateness of the project to the professional's
current work, and the effect (local or global) of the
completed project on the quality of oral education.
Procedure
All applicants should include the following:
1. Applicant's resume;
2. A proposal (not to exceed two pages) that describes the use of the
grant and the specific benefits to be derived from it; and
3. Three letters of recommendation - one must be from the applicant's
supervisor, who must be familiar with the proposed use of
the grant (unless applicant is self-employed).

Nominators of awards need not be members of INPROSEC. Nominations and
letters should be sent as complete packages to:

Nominations should be received by May 1, 2002. Please allow adequate time
for mail delivery and review of nominations. Awards
will be presented at the AG Bell 2002 Convention in St. Louis, MO.
