Friday March 16, 1:52 am Eastern Time Phonak, Cochlear in distribution deal ZURICH, March 16 (Reuters) - Phonak Holding AG and Cochlear Ltd (Australia:COH.AX- news) have agreed on a global distribution deal for Phonak's wireless FM communication equipment, the Swiss hearing aid maker said on Friday. Cochlear, founded in 1981, and based in Sydney Australian, makes ear implant systems with an externally worn speech processor. ``The distribution agreement will generate direct additional business for the Phonak FM Division,'' Phonak said, adding the deal would help increase product awareness among doctors. ``We expect the high growth rates (of wireless communication products) to continue over the next years,'' it added. Phonak also said that it would sponsor a research program at the Beckman Institute, University of Illinois, concentrating on basic speech perception. Phonak is due to publish results for the business year to March 31 on April 20. |
