New Organization:
AUDIENT - The Alliance for Accessible Hearing Care for low income
populations
AUDIENT is a new program of the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight&
Hearing designed to improve hearing care nationwide and worldwide.
AUDIENT was established as a hearing care alliance bringing together
manufacturers, hearing health care professionals, patients and other
related for- profit and not-for-profit groups. Our goal is to address
hearing health care disparities and improve the lives of millions in
this country who don’t have access to hearing care.
The AUDIENT mechanism for improving hearing care access is twofold: 1)
increase access to quality hearing aid products; and 2) encourage the
development of a framework of quality hearing care services for
determining income qualification and hearing aid candidacy, for the
fitting of appropriate amplification devices. Northwest Lions Foundation
for Sight & Hearing has a broad global vision of expanding the AUDIENT
process into developing countries, so that accessible, quality, hearing
health care can be introduced to benefit individuals in need of hearing
care around the world. The Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight &
Hearing is a not for profit 501 (C) 3, and all revenues from the AUDIENT
Alliance will be directed back into developing its charitable global
mission.
