Advanced Bionics has been working on advancing rechargeable battery
technology to help make user’s lives simpler. The company is proud to
announce the release of two new rechargeable batteries – BTE PowerCel Plus
and BTE PowerCel Slim. The new batteries offer greater convenience, longer
life and less out-of-pocket cost to end users.
BTE PowerCel Plus
The new BTE PowerCel Plus is for users of either the Platinum BTE or the
CII BTE ear-level processors. It provides 4-5 additional hours of
operating time per charge for CII BTE users (a 38% increase). This
improvement will provide many CII BTE users with the convenience of a full
day operation with just one BTE PowerCel Plus.
For Platinum BTE users, the average operating time improvement is 22%,
which may result in fewer battery changes each day.
BTE PowerCel Slim
The new BTE PowerCel Slim features the same new battery chemistry as the
BTE PowerCel Plus, but in a smaller and lighter package. It provides CII
BTE users an average increase of 2-3 hours per charge.
More Convenient and Less Cost
Rechargeable batteries offer the advantage of providing the power needed
to run the same processing strategies as the body worn processor, without
trade offs in sound quality. As durable medical equipment, rechargeable
batteries are most typically covered by insurance and require minimal
out-of-pocket costs. The new chemistry in these rechargeable batteries
enables them to deliver longer operating times, and last much longer
before needing replacement. Both batteries also feature water-tolerant
materials designed to protect the processor and battery from perspiration
or rain.
