November 16, 2001 (Washington, DC)-The Alexander Graham Bell Association
for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) announced that Carol Fraser
Fisk will become Interim Executive Director following Donna L. Sorkin's
departure from AG Bell for her new position as Vice President, Consumer
Affairs, with Cochlear Corporation. Fisk will have overall responsibility
for activities of AG Bell until a permanent Executive Director is
appointed.
"I'm grateful that Carol Fisk will be assisting us during this
transition," stated Michael Tecklenburg, President of AG Bell. "Carol
brings a wealth of experience to the task ahead. AG Bell will continue to
serve its members and undertake its activities on behalf of individuals
who are deaf and hard of hearing."
Since June 2000, Fisk has been Director of Operations at AG Bell,
overseeing AG Bell's renovation of its historic headquarters building and
internal operations. Prior to joining AG Bell, Fisk was Executive Director
of the American Academy of Audiology, Vice President of Public Policy for
Volunteers of America, and Founding Executive Director of the Assisted
Living Federation. She also served as the U.S. Commissioner on Aging under
President Reagan.
