CHATTING INSTRUCTIONS

Chatting in the HearingExchange chat rooms is easy! Here's how:

Be sure to use this new link to get to the Login screen for our chat area:
http://www.hearingexchange.com/chat.html. Enter your name or a screen name in the Nickname box. Then click on Connect. Once you are brought to the chat screen, proceed to the appropriate chat room by clicking on its name in The window on the right side of the chat screen.

Our chat room software is Java based, so if you're having trouble accessing the rooms, you may want to download and install the Java Plugin available at this page:
http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.3.1_02/jre/index.html

Rebooting your computer and trying a different Internet browser are also useful for troubleshooting. It appears that software issues have been resolved so if you haven't been able to get into our chat area in the past, please try again. Please send details of any chat problems to mailto:chats@hearingexchange.com. Your support is appreciated.

We now have multiple rooms available to you simultaneously. This allows you to meet like-minded people to discuss issues in separate areas. (NEW Room! Canadian Corner, plus Cochlear Implants, Parents, Auditory Neuropathy, Deaf/HOH, Cued Speech and more.)

If you live outside of the Eastern Time zone or the United States, please use this Time Zone Converter tool to determine what time the chat will be held in your area. (Remember to uncheck the "Use Current Date/Time" box if necessary.) http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

To learn more about me, please click here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/aboutus.htm. To read about our other chat hosts, visit this page: http://www.hearingexchange.com/staff/

Our chatrooms are open for unmoderated discussions 24/7 so come anytime! View the hosted chat schedule here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/chat_schedule.html or see below.
