I have a hard of hearing sixth grade child whom I see for speech. His IEP goals include improving his articulation and pragmatic skills. Can you offer any advice or resources? Read it here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/experts/parent_support.htm Question for Ira Springer AuD., FAAA, Audiology Expert My 5 year old daughter has minimal loss (bilateral) through 2000 hz with a drop off to 70 db at 3000 hz and above. I understand what sounds she should be missing, and she does have slight speech issues with those, as do many 5 yr olds. We have never noticed any issues with her, except sometimes have to call her more loudly than other kids. We are very torn about getting hearing aids for her. Part of me feels if she is going to need them for sure later, then now would be the right time to get her used to them. I don't want her to miss anything, but it seems she only marginally needs the aids. Any input?
