Sorry for the delay in this edition of HearingExchange News. My family and I headed to sunny Florida for the President's Weekend holiday. As always, I was dismayed at the lack of accomodations for the deaf and hard of hearing at the airports. I find it disconcerting to not be able to hear any of the announcements in the airport or on the airplane. What types of airport accomodations would you like to see? Has your hearing loss been particularly frustrating when traveling by air? Has any airline or airport ever accomodated your hearing loss? He struggles in reading and has been in speech therapy since pre-school although he only has a little trouble with a few of his sounds. He has been tested by an audiologist who said his left ear is perfect but the right ear has mild loss at all except 40 decibels and she thought that was very strange. Please help me understand how we missed his hearing loss and what we should do next.
