It is amazing how much we have achieved in the few short months since our activations. Her speech is much more clear now as she can hear the high frequency speech sounds she had been continually leaving out. Also, her confidence has soared and is demonstrated by the many new friendships she made this year in school. She was the "new kid" as she graduated from the Moog Center for Deaf Education last Spring and entered first grade in a regular public classroom in New York this Fall. I'm so proud of all of her accomplishments and know that her high self-esteem plays a big part in her success. I hope you enjoy this issue of HearingExchange News! By doing this, you are validating that what the child wants or needs is important and that he is capable of communicating for himself. My 3G Broke!" ---------------------------------------------------------- HearingExchange founder, Paula Rosenthal, has been chronicling her experiences with her cochlear implant. Here's the latest excerpt: I've been working with a speech pathologist on a weekly basis to practice listening skills with my cochlear implant. Seven weeks post-activation I switched from the Nucleus 24C body processor to the Nucleus 3G behind the ear processor. I was doing well with each device, however my therapist and I decided to work with both devices during a session to make some comparisons.
