[HearingExchange] Workshop for Parents of Deaf/HOH Children Ages 2-5 - Don't Miss It ========================================================== Dear HearingExchange Members, If you're a parent of a child age 2 to 5 or and you're interested in learning more about teaching him or her to talk, this is a wonderful program and worth the time and cost of attending this summer. The Moog Center for Deaf Education presents: Helping Your Child Learn to Talk A Workshop for Parents of Children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, ages 2 to 5 St. Louis, MO - July 19-23, 2006 The workshop begins on Wednesday evening at 6:00, with dinner and an opportunity for all of the families to meet each other and the staff who will be working with the children. Each day, we will meet from 9-3. The adults will have classes/seminars/discussions in one space and the children will be divided into classes by age and language ability. There will be a 1:1 ratio of adult to child for the younger children and a 2:1 ratio for the 4-5 year olds. Each day, each child will receive individual instruction by a staff member of the Moog Center. At lunchtime everyone will eat together, and parents are responsible for their children, however Moog will provide the meal. Those children whose parents want them to nap, then get a nap after lunch and the rest of the children have a fun-filled afternoon. Moog has been doing this workshop for 9 years and has become masters at managing and teaching both the children and adults! A high percentage of past attendees have continued their affiliation with the Moog Center for Deaf Education, either by enrolling their child at the program or by engaging in distance learning. Participants' Costs: Enrollment is $150 for one child and two adults. Arrangements have been made with a nearby Marriott Residence Inn for rooms at $109 per night. The Residence Inn offers a complimentary breakfast. Several meals are provided by Moog. The registration form is available online at HearingExchange here: http://www.hearingexchange.com/workshop-071905.shtml. If you have questions, contact the Moog Center for Deaf Education at 314.692.7172. Enrollment is limited and registration must be made by June 28th, so don't miss out on this terrific program. Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone else you think may be interested. You can also post it at your child's school or give it to your local audiologist, speech therapist, cochlear implant center, ENT and pediatrician to distribute or post in their offices.
