TASL: Teacher Assessment of Spoken Language
by Jean Sachar Moog and Julia J. Biedenstein
of the Moog Center for Deaf Education in St. Louis, MO
THE TEACHER ASSESSMENT OF SPOKEN LANGUAGE (TASL) is a teacher rating form
which was designed to rate the sentence structure of children who are deaf
and hard of hearing. The TASL evaluates the development of spoken language
from first words through the use of complex sentences.
THE TASL is easy to use and very helpful to
teachers for developing IEPs as it specifically rates the child's present
level and lists the next higher levels to be learned. This makes the TASL
useful as a guide for selecting objectives and as a record of progress
throughout the year.
A complete TASL consists of a manual and a package of 10 Rating Forms and
10 Syntactic Reference Forms.
