Has anybody got info on sucess rate for seniors. Gene is deaf in 1 ear and has minimal hearing with help of an aid in other. His balance is better in deaf ear. Will he lose that balance if he is implanted in the deaf ear. He would rather be deaf than have to use a walker.

I wish I had first hand experiences to offer, but I don't. I can offer insight as to the CI itself. If implanted all sense of hearing in the implanted ear is lost and cannot be restored. However, will it affect his balance? I'm not sure. My daughter has been implanted and she keeps her balance fine, so I would have to assume that balance is not affected. I wish you luck in making this decision.

My father was implanted at the age of 77 and has had not problems with balance. He seems to do better at hearing but it does take time and he was a long time with very little .I myself got my implant in 1997 and I love it. And only had problems with dizziness for a day or 2 after surgery.
Hope this helps
