Looking for info on head injury and hearing loss. Please share any stories on how soon after the bump on the head did the hearing loss occur. Were you successful in getting back the hearing? Working with Children's hospital to try to find out what happened to my 4yr old daughter. Lost all hearing in right ear and left ear went down as well. Left came back up to mod/severe range that has been the same for 14 months now. Suspected virus but Dr says it usually happens in one ear and to people with normal
hearing. Cat scan scheduled. Looking for
any info. Bump caused swelling and bruising
to her forhead, no signs of concussion, checked during the night and she aroused quickly and said she was ok. She appeared
fine next day and eight days later hearing levels dropped one at a time.

Thank you for any help.

Joanne:

Has your daughter had the CAT scan yet? Make sure you ask the doctor about LVA - Large Vestibular Aqueducts. Some people who have this lose more hearing when they get even the slightest bump to the head.

There is a tremendous amount of information on it at this page: www.listen-up.org/med2.htm

Good luck and please keep us posted.
