My five year old son was recently recommended for hearing aids. He has hearing lost from horrible ear infections as a child and ear tubes. Are there any programs in the United States or the State of Illinois that will provide the hearing aids at a reduced cost, or no charge?

Hello,

I found this info on another site. The Chicago Hearing Society has a "hearing aid bank.

  • Complete hearing testing.

  • Accepts donations of new or used hearing aids.

  • Hearing aids are issued to qualified people who cannot afford to purchase a new aid.

  • Staff fluent in American Sign Language and in Spanish.

  • Accepts public aid with a sliding fee scale

Hi,

Check out these sources for funding:

www.focusonhearing.org/funding.htm
www.listen-up.org/haidfund.htm

Both sites offer significant valuable information on other areas of hearing loss as well. If you contact them directly, please tell them HearingExchange sent you.

I hope these are fruitful for you.

Welcome to HearingExchange!

Hi!

Some of my students have gone through:
1. Chicago Hearing Society
2. Miracle Ear Foundation
3. IL Lion's Club Foundation
4. Shriners Foundation (for surgeries)
5. D.S.C.C. (Dept. of Specialized Services for Children) State aid for hearing aids, batteries, etc., for those who qualify financially.

Hope this helps, I don't have any of the numbers on me, they are in my planner at work. Sorry!
