I've relocated to New York for the summer months and I've found it is already just as hot and humid as the Midwest. My hearing aids have seemed kind of fuzzy sounding and my daughter's earmold tubes fill up with moisture daily. We have found that using an electric Dry & Store unit each night has helped dry out the aids. This is especially helpful for the waterproof aids we use in the swimming pools. What do you use? Paula, If you use an over-the-ear aid you may want to try super seals. They seal out most moisture. I noticed you mentioned waterproof aids. I have a son that refuses to remove his aids and therefore can not swim. I was hopeing you would be able to send me any information you have on the waterproof aids and where I would go to get them. (I live in NJ) Thank You IP: Logged |

Hi Paula, I just became aware of moisture resistant tubing for ear molds. I am going to request it with the next set of ear molds my daughter gets. The moisture-resistant tubing is described in the ListenUp website. I'm not certain what company makes them, but my audiologist knows about them. Funny, she has seen water inside my daughter's ear mold tubes everytime we go there (4 years now), but it never ocurred to her to suggest this special type of tubing until I mentioned it. That is a good lesson for me to try to stay on top of everything relating to hearing loss, and to not rely on the professionals to tell me what I need to know. IP: Logged |

LOL (laughing out loud)! Yes, Michelle, I do agree that we must be so on top of things with every professional. Thank YOU for telling us about moisture resistant tubing. I'm going to ask my audiologist about it too when I see him next week. Regards, Paula IP: Logged |

I just put my CI in a plastic container(need a bigger container) with the pellets in and cover the lid, just like hearing aids. I put my HA in the glass jar that comes with the pellets. Never had problems with moisture from sweating, only if the HA would get water directly, or accidentally dropping it in the toilet or accidentally going into the shower with it

Hi Paula, I have a question about the Dry and Store..our 5 year old son will be getting his new hearing aids for the first time next week..he is a sweater with a capital S!!! I am very worried about moisture being a problem for him and am wondering if the Dry and Store you are mentioning is the "expensive" one...around 150 dollars or so? Our audiologist said she had something (I can't remember what she called it) for 8 dollars...I know the 150 dollar one we've seen is pricey, but yet we want to protect our investment, too, as we did get him digital hearing aids since they told us he'll have the same aids for 8-10 years (let's hope he doesnt' lose them!). Thanks for any info on this! Elaine IP: Logged |

Hello! Just found this website today and read with interest that someone mentioned hearing aids at the pool. I am a mother of a 2 year old and it saddens me when I take out her aids and she can't hear me. Please, please give me more information on this website. Thank You. IP: Logged |
