Hello, my name is John. My son, Johnson, 21 months and has some hearing loss. At 13 months, we have realized our son had hearing problem because he didn't response to our commands. We have informed the Dr. but she said it was too young to tell. Recently, we brought him for an ABR and tympanogram test. The result for ABR was a mild hearing loss and the tympanogram was not normal. However, the doctor said there are water in the child's ear so we have to re-do all the tests (after some anti-biotic treatment). We are very concerned and try to find out all the possibilities from the worst to the best causes of the child's hearing loss. If any one knows where to find the information, please let me know, or please summarize for us the keywords which we can use to search for more information. We appreciate any help from your experiences. Right now we have to wait and very nervous about it. Thanks, John.

hi John,i am in the same position as you,my son Declan is 13 months and has been diagnosed with a moderate hearing loss, his tynpanogram came back normal but his hearing is down to 40 dbs.We are now waiting for hearing aids which he should have during the next month. We too have thought of all the possibilities why he has a hearing loss but we have been told by the doctors its one of those things. When a child has a ear infection or has had a cold this affects there hearing as my daughter had a cold just before her hearing test and we had to have it repeated and the results were fine after.I understand the feelings you are going through. Angie
