Does your child suffer from allergies that affects his or her hearing? What has helped? Do you find that the non-drowsy medicines make him drowsy?

We'd love to hear from you!

My girlfriend's son has some allergies and he uses Clariton. There are a few types of Clariton, so ask your doctor. The type he uses are little white pills in a blister package. The pills dissolve the second they hit the tongue so there is no swallowing. Its like sugar dissolving with no taste. I visited my friend at her home last summer. They have a dog and I have an allergy problem around dogs. She gave me two of these pills and they helped me and there was no drowsey effect. Her son is 8, so I know that this type of Clariton is for kids.

Hi Diane:

Glad to see you on the forum! We tried those Claritin pills with her last year and even thought there isn't supposed to be drowsy side effect, it made her very tired. I started giving them to her before bedtime, but then it didn't help enough the next day when she was at school!

Asked the pediatrician today and he said we should just use the Nasonex nose spray for 4 to 6 weeks and hopefully that will help.

See you,

Paula

Hi Kiddo! Glad to see you - who would have thought my friends were lurkers - LOL! If Nasonex doesn't do the trick, I'll check with the doc. She had it all last spring and while she doesn't like it, she lets me do it.

How are things??? Email me privately.

Paula

Another vote for Zyrtec..My hearing and HOH children both have allergies. My HOH son suffers the most and the Zyrtec has worked great. He takes it at bedtime (liquid form) and without a fight! A bonus. Good luck.
