I am a 35 y/o male living with my parents due to my birth defect causing paraplegia in lower body. But this message is about my concern and frustration with my parents' failing hearing and their not wanting to have it checked by a doctor. I am frustrated by having to repeat things over and over and I know that they do have a problem due to the fact that I listen to the two of them conversing and misunderstanding eachother and me. What can I do?????? IP: Logged |

Peter if they see a Docotor for regular visits perhaps you should contatc their doctor the advice fcoming from him as their health care provider would be easier for them to take. Good luck IP: Logged |

Thanks for the possible answer to the problem. It will probably be the answer to my father's failing hearing...but my mother is another story. SHE will not visit the doctor for a physical. It was a major issue when she had abdomenal pain and was sent to the hospital for gaul bladder surgery. She says it will be a long time before she goes for another physical exam. It is quite frustrating. IP: Logged |

Peter: Perhaps a social worker, or a healthcare worker for seniors can pay a visit to the home. I don't know how to go aobut setting this up - you can try calling your local health department or seniors services. ~Paula IP: Logged |
