Hello,My name is Eileen McCartin, and I am a doctoral student in education at George Mason University doing research on adults who have cochlear implants. I received my implant from Johns Hopkins in July of 1998.
For part of my dissertation research, I am asking adults who have cochlear implants to complete an online survey available at http://fs7.formsite.com/mccartin/AdultCISurvey/index.html
You may find more information about my study at http://mason.gmu.edu/~emccarti/CIWeb/opening.htm
In addition to investigating people's perceptions of life with and without an implant, I would like to compile a list of specific learning and coping strategies that people have found effective in learning/relearning how to hear with an implant.
Gathering information from a large variety of CI users will be insightful and worthwhile, and our experiences will be a useful source of information for future implantees and professionals.
Please feel free to contact me directly at
emccartin@aol.com or AdultCISurvey@aol.com with any questions or feedback, and I will reply to you promptly.
Sincerely,
Eileen McCartin
